168 - Infant Mouthguards?
I have found a replacement for most disturbing sound – nails on chalkboard – you’re history! You’ve been replaced by infant teeth grinding. Yes, Kaela is grinding her only two top teeth with her only two bottom teeth. And by god if it’s not the most bone shivering sound ever.
Anyone know where to get an infant mouthguard?
In the meantime, we’re going to make the biter biscuit people rich.
167 - Theaters may ask to jam cell phones
I have been waiting for this announcement for so long, I can only hope that it truly becomes a reality.
I once went to a movie and had all the ills befall me in one movie (I guess that’s what I get for trying to get a night out alone…) I had big hair sit in front of me during the quiz so I moved; during the previews Mr. cowboy hat sat down in front of so I shuffled over two seats; after about half an hour, a group of folks in the back were shouting at the characters like they could be heard; and right at the climax, someone got a call – and TOOK it!

166 - App of the Week (OS X) – MarsEdit
MarsEdit by Ranchero Software is my personal choice for app of the week. I just downloaded the trial today, but it already is coming in very handy.
It is a local OS X blog posting tool. I can craft blog entries offline and then get them posted once I hit an Internet connection. Given my commute, I have a lot of disconnected time that I can use, and now I have another thing to do with that time. It also has rocking integration with NetNewsWire (go figure, since that is written by Ranchero as well…) Now, if I see something in my daily RSS troll, I can one click start a draft; finish the post, and save for later upload.
Described in their words:
MarsEdit is a weblog editor for Mac OS X that makes weblog writing like writing email—with spell-checking, drafts, multiple windows, and even AppleScript support. It works with various weblog systems: Blosxom, Conversant, Manila, Movable Type, Radio UserLand, TypePad, WordPress, and others.
There are a few things that would be nice additions:
1) Access to tag my posts with support for Ultimate Tag Warrior
2) Categories. This is a no brainer and almost seems like a huge oversight. I can only post to the main category, and then have to go back to teh blog to edit it later. (EDITED: See comments below – I just hadn’t explored deeply enough – my bad!)

162 - Writely Bought By Google
I checked out Writely several months ago and was fairly impressed with both their concept and their execution. Their Ui was clean and elegant, and the UX was smooth. I’ll have to jump back over and take a look, but things can only get better:
Writely Blog
Some of you have been worried about our future here at Writely. As one concerned user wrote:“I love Writely, but… I was wondering, is there any way to send you guys some money? I understand it’s free and all, but I just feel bad that you don’t charge. Thanks!”
We appreciate the sentiment, and all the support we’ve gotten from our users, but thankfully, your donations won’t be necessary, for one very exciting reason:
Writely is now part of Google!

160 - WA Legislature Tries to Graduate Public to Higher Ground
WA State is infamous for being host to many large diploma mills. These mills feed lies and ill repute around the country, getting many unqualified people jobs they could otherwise not get.
The State House recenty passed Bill 2507 with the Senate introducing their own equivalent. These bills would create a fine of $1000 for WA State residents who lie on resumes or other documentation in regards to degrees not obtained or obtained from unaccredited institutions.
This bill is a great start at creating accountability. The next step would be to shut down the diploma mills that call WA their home and allow those in other states the ability to lie their way through the work force.
159 - Seattle Mixes Local Artists In the City Phone’s On Hold Music System
For the longest time, there was a mix of the most famous Seattle area musical acts playing on loop at the International Fountain at teh Seattle Center.
Now, Seattle takes it a step further with their program called OnHold where they offer local artist’s as the hold music for those waiting to get a hold of a human when calling city offices.
The best part is that they offer a podcast of the OnHold mixes.
The City of Seattle now offers podcasts of the entire music program available OnHold. You can subscribe to receive updates (learn how below) each time a new OnHold mix is podcast and access previous podcasts from the archive.
OnHold is the first municipally hosted podcast dedicated to showcasing local musicians and giving back to the community. Each time a new OnHold podcast is released previous podcasts will be archived to create a one of a kind Seattle music database.
It’s the small things like this that make me glad to live in a progressive city.

Problems with his pasport… – Yahoo! News
Wed Mar 1, 8:26 AM ETNICOSIA (Reuters) – You might have the best forgery skills in the world, but it is not much use if you cannot spell.
A Cyprus court jailed Pakistani national Fazal Ur Rehman for eight months for forgery after police spotted spelling mistakes on stamps on an Afghan passport he was carrying — otherwise it was a near-perfect copy, the Cyprus Mail said Wednesday.
“Ministry” was spelled “Menistry” and the first “n” was missing from government, the newspaper said.
“The passport looked perfect and professionally made … almost deemed original by forensics,” a police officer told a magistrate in the Cypriot capital Nicosia.
