160 - WA Legislature Tries to Graduate Public to Higher Ground
WA State is infamous for being host to many large diploma mills. These mills feed lies and ill repute around the country, getting many unqualified people jobs they could otherwise not get.
The State House recenty passed Bill 2507 with the Senate introducing their own equivalent. These bills would create a fine of $1000 for WA State residents who lie on resumes or other documentation in regards to degrees not obtained or obtained from unaccredited institutions.
This bill is a great start at creating accountability. The next step would be to shut down the diploma mills that call WA their home and allow those in other states the ability to lie their way through the work force.
159 - Seattle Mixes Local Artists In the City Phone’s On Hold Music System
For the longest time, there was a mix of the most famous Seattle area musical acts playing on loop at the International Fountain at teh Seattle Center.
Now, Seattle takes it a step further with their program called OnHold where they offer local artist’s as the hold music for those waiting to get a hold of a human when calling city offices.
The best part is that they offer a podcast of the OnHold mixes.
The City of Seattle now offers podcasts of the entire music program available OnHold. You can subscribe to receive updates (learn how below) each time a new OnHold mix is podcast and access previous podcasts from the archive.
OnHold is the first municipally hosted podcast dedicated to showcasing local musicians and giving back to the community. Each time a new OnHold podcast is released previous podcasts will be archived to create a one of a kind Seattle music database.
It’s the small things like this that make me glad to live in a progressive city.

Wed Mar 1, 8:26 AM ETNICOSIA (Reuters) – You might have the best forgery skills in the world, but it is not much use if you cannot spell.
A Cyprus court jailed Pakistani national Fazal Ur Rehman for eight months for forgery after police spotted spelling mistakes on stamps on an Afghan passport he was carrying — otherwise it was a near-perfect copy, the Cyprus Mail said Wednesday.
“Ministry” was spelled “Menistry” and the first “n” was missing from government, the newspaper said.
“The passport looked perfect and professionally made … almost deemed original by forensics,” a police officer told a magistrate in the Cypriot capital Nicosia.
